Kashmir News Network urges Government of India to take tougher measures against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism

Kashmir News Network (KNN) welcomes Government of India's move to recall its High Commissioner from Pakistan and the decision to terminate the train and bus services between Lahore and Delhi. These two steps are in the right direction but fall short of a full-fledged punitive measures necessitated by present circumstances. These two steps by themselves will be insufficient in permanently checkmating Pakistani capacity and willingness to wage terror in India.

Kashmir News Network advocates the following comprehensive series of measures, backed up by punitive overt and covert actions against terrorist bases in Pakistani territory:

1. Sever all the diplomatic ties with Pakistan by completely shutting down Indian High Commission and Consulates in Pakistan;

2. Shut down Pakistani High Commission and Consulates by issuing marching orders to their staffers to leave India within 7 days;

3. With immediate effect, revoke Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status given to Pakistan;

4. With immediate effect, stop all joint military meetings at Wagah Border in Amritsar, Punjab;

5. Impose stronger travel and visa restrictions on Pakistani Citizens wishing to enter India;

6. Ask all travelers with Pakistani passport to leave India within next 10 days;

7. Suspend all the commercial and cultural exchanges with Pakistan;

8. Immediately publish the Interior Ministry's White Paper on Pakistan's Intelligence Agency, the ISI;

9. With immediate effect, abrogate the Indus River Water treaty of 1952;

10. With immediate effect, ban all anti-national religious rallies and organizations trying to inveigle national security issues into petty politics;

11. With immediate effect, call a complete ground halt to all sporting ties with Pakistan and

12. Immediately interrogate All Party Hurriyat Conference's Chairman Abdul Ghani Bhat and publicise the findings of what he and Hurriyat Conference knew about the attacks on Parliament. [Mr. Bhat had made some suspicious comments about something great happening in next 12 hours just a day prior to attack on Indian Parliament.]

These diplomatic and military steps should be terminated only when Pakistan ends all training, hosting, incitement, weapons supply and logistical support for terrorists, including those that belong to the Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Hizbul Mujahideen, Harkat-ul-Mujahideen, Tehrik-ul-Mujahideen, Al Badr and all such groups coordinated by the ISI. The leaders of each one of these groups, including Hafiz Muhammed Syeed, Masood Azhar, Farooq Khalil, Gazi Baba, Dawood Ibrahim, Syed Salahuddin and others should be handed over to the Indian government.

Kashmir News Network strongly believes that the last 54 years of diplomacy has not worked with Pakistan because that country does not believe in diplomacy. Therefore, the Government of India should not engage in any dialog with the military dictator of a rogue state whose only raison d 'etre is hatred towards its democratic and secular neighbour.
